KALPAKIAN
about
the project.
In this exhibition space at Kalpakian, the rug store with more than 100 years of history, an everyday dining area is proposed that reflects that ‘hygge’ and ‘slow living’ moment, where atmospheres are created to support rest and well-being. This space combines comfort and sophistication, where every detail has been meticulously selected to create a visually harmonious experience.

The lighting composition was a key element of this dining area, evoking the moment one returns home, in intimacy. The diffused light from the window, filtered through the soft veil of pleated fabric, contributes to this harmony along with the indirect lighting from the wall sconces. Noble materials such as Tundra Grey marble, combined with the flooring and textile wall coverings, convey warmth through neutral tones. We chose an Off White palette in different textures, adding subtle contrasts in black. The sophistication of the tatami reinforces the elegance we sought to reflect in this space, and in counterpoint, the red clay tableware extracted from the mountain range complements it in a delicate balance.
